i had FE-DOHC (the 10comp alloy sump) in my GD 626.... microtec ran the show so no need for the AFM and i had just the cone on it.... the sound was INCREDIBLE.... damn (makes me drool just thinking about it). pulled like a mongrel all the way to 7200.
really good motor, however not a holy grail as it is seen on mx6.com/probetalk (but it is best you can get for those platforms, myself i think the BP-T even through 1.8 is a better motor)
for the ease of things i would go:
F2-T (from 626/mx6 GD)
Microtec (or similar)
easy sourced, once you get it going can drop FE-DOHC in it easy, will have better brains for it and ready for anything (microtec)
i think the F2-T is a great option for RWD, torque is fantastic....
btw, here is an interesting build up

Well here's a pic of the HB sedan in question:
And engine bay:
I don't really like the colour much, but I can change that later if I want.
Yeah, I have considered the F2 or the F2T... I just don't know if it's worth the trouble if I'm only going to change it again later... :

Re: HB + HD Owner from Brisbane
very nice and clean, don't get them that clean in cream. and the bay is remarkable
yeah i know what you mean, but this will give you a car that will have more go and be more refined (at not such a great cost). it will also give you a ready to go platform and time to find and build the FE-DOHC
you could also end up being happy with f2-t with a decent turbo

And now, after much screwing around, it is registered.
Now to get a job and start the improvements.
To celebrate the momentous occasion of getting it registered, here is a token awesome photo of it:
Once I've got a bit of money and some idea of what direction I want to go in, I'll probably switch to the projects thread as I start working on it. For now I'm just happy to be able to drive the thing.
(sorry for the dramatisation, but it took three roadworthy attempts, and two days worth of work to get this girl back on the road)
