Engine Electrical Concern. Please Help.

On occasion my 93 929 will start but does not come out of gear. I have to use the shift lock to get out of gear. When this happens the engine runs but is very sluggish, the temperature gauge does not work, the speedometer does not work nor the odometer. The a/c fan blows but does not allow the compressor to kick in. Fog lights are also inoperative. Sometimes after a short drive it releases itself and vehicle starts to operate properly. While driving it seems like the transmission does not want to shift at all. I need help and suggestions as to what could possibly be the problem. Any help to correct this would be greatly appreciated. Thanking you all in advance for your help.

with the speedometer and gearbox, sounds like your speed sensor/cable is gone.

what model do you have?
