Updates: The unit HAS been repaired and a new power loom has been supplied. All for $148 delivered to my door So, I should have that by Thursday. The drink drawer (that sits underneath the headunit) will be in by next week (Autobarn had to do an exclusive order apparently!) Here's what the drawer looks like:



I'd rather THIS than the famous "drink sitter-on-toppera" in the glove box! hahaha

A VERY satisfied customer Now just waiting on the above cup holder/drawer to arrive from Autobarn and that will complete the install.

I'm currently fitting a climate control module I just puchased for $25USD (+$19USD for p+h), which converted to AUD comes up to a grand total of $48.12 Pics coming shortly....

Climate control didn't go according to plan. I fit the unit, but there is an extra harness point which I need to research on and it's only blowing out heat. No air conditioning Plus, the back seat vent is blowing airconditioning flat out and it can't be stopped. So I put the old unit back in and I'm going to do my research and see where all bugs can be ironed out.

However.... I received another delivery today


My Alpine 4 Channel MRV-F303. This is my rear fill amp.





When I gutted this thing, I had to look twice. I thought "This does NOT look like the F407 guts! Something suss here." Then I saw the following in the top LHS corner...



Aswell as the massive "typical Alpine" caps.

Compare sizes of the F407 and the 1507 and the newly acquired F303



This is my current V12 collection to date



I might just start the Phase 1 "ghetto" install WITHOUT using the rear fills as yet. I'll install the rear fill but leave the wires in tact to hook up to an amp in a heartbeat. I'll just run my fronts and the subs so I have SOME sound for now I'll wire the 6.5" mids off the F303 and the F407 should be enough to run the 4" midranges and the XT25s. I'll run outside and do another temp fit in the boot to see where I can fit stuff for now. So, back in 5...

Now, BOOTSKIS layout....



Now, excuse the Avantgarde amp, that's in there for measurement sake. Eventually that's where the other F407 will sit. I will just house the 2 x 4 channels on that line for now... then once the next amp comes along, I'll fit the F303 in between the 2 x F407s



Here's the same shot is with ANOTHER F303 in there (shocking.. I know. That's why I never pursued a career in computer graphics design ) But you get the idea! hahaha





OK, now that I have I have my boot layout organised... time to draft things up and get ready to build them up.

AND I believe I just sourced a pair of Dayton RS52 dome midranges These pair up nicely with my XT25s and only need stuff-all juice to run them. I'll find out by next week if they are mine or not.

Just in case folks are wondering what the HELL are Dayton RS52 dome mids, they are these:



These will be coupled with these babies; which I already have:



These will be housed into custom fibreglassed kick panels. Should be a nice sweet sounding front stage

Cheers dude! I've promised a few boys in NSW and QLD that I'll be driving up once I've done the install. So when I'm on the move, I'll let you know and you can feel free to listen to whatever cd's you want

Actually, you only really need to do the whole boot (that includes bootlid and parcel shelf) and the front doors and kicks. That's it. There's about 2 x bulk packs of dynamat xtreme there. But yeah, I'm definitely sound deadening this thing! hahaha. It isn't advisable to be sound deadening EVERYTHING because not only does this add unnecessary weight to the vehicle, it also restricts certain acoustic values in the vehicle. Don't get me wrong, I strongly believe that sealing the doors and sound deadening it into an enclosure will dramatically improve your midbass. The boot done with SD will have minimal rattles and won't be AS cop-attractive with regards to the sub bass, but it sound needs to bounce off certain surfaces in order to create a particular sound image
Oh.. confirmed fact.. I scored them Dayton midranges! I'm absolutely RAPT!
Now, the only thing I'll look at later on down the track.. the mid bass update. I have the drivers in mind, but they aren't available until mid 2010! Shattered! hahaha These Philips mids will do their job for now .

The Daytons will be delivered hopefully by Wednesday and the cup holder drawer should be here say Friday (Monday latest). OK, pics of what I've had to do so far:

NOW... the pic below and above show how the power cable is subject top sharpo metal. Because I was in a rush that night to install it, I have to make sure that there is some split loom tubing in place to protect this wire in that position. OTHERWISE, I could short the wire once the fuse is connected. VERY IMPORTANT!!!
