GRRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!

I went to go purchase a second hand battery for am N13 Pulsar, so I can start the damin thing. I went to 3 different wreckers and on the last one, I was about to start the car, turned the key, accesories switched on, then it wouldn't even turn over. I checked the battery, terminals and charge were fine. Tapped the starter motor a few times.... nothing.
Two hours later.... RACV tow truck comes by and drops it off at my mechanics! I suspect the starter motor has packed in. The battery is still brand new. Accesories weren't affected by it, as I was able to control the windows and sunroof and all lights worked fine.

I won't see this car for about 2 weeks! That sucks! Ah well.... DYSONS Motorsport linked with METRO Racing... aka public transport

It's been a while since I last posted on here. I've been held up with school and a few other things.

Right, I got the car back... $280 later for an inhibitor switch

Now.. back into the audio, I have since acquired a 4 channel amp (coming from the States). It's an Alpine MRV-F303, Good for 4 x 30WRMS. Why THIS amp? I had a STUPID idea which is for pure cosmetics, as I am building out the front significantly, I thought to "use what I have in my room" and see what I can come up with. My parcel shelf had a photo shoot with some "potential" residents... I still have 2 x sets of GTM-1050 4" splits, just sitting there. So, I thought to utilize the midranges (all four of them! 2 on each side) and run them off a small 4 channel amp.

Above, you'll notice the measurements of the gap I have to work with in between the speakers. I'm completely removing that brake light on my parcel shelf (as I have external brake lights that are PHYSICALLY IMPOSSIBLE for Stevie Wonder to miss, let alone the average man!) and I will have enough room for these.....

OK.... I mentioned that I had to modify the bracket (or custom make one)... for now, I've drilled holes to suit the unit, until I can organise to get a proper bracket made to make sure the head unit isn't getting pinched anytime soon

Now, with the unit in place, I have left a gap of 68mm x 181mm. So It's plenty of room to either get my hands on a pocket for it.. which I have since discovered Aerpro have universal drink holders/accessory pockets (at Autobarn for $29.95) So I can fill the gap.. AND store my drinks :p

Problem: I'm going to have to sit and wait with this head unit; as I haven't wired here up. After the pic was taken, I took it out. I'm going to need 2 things done to this unit before I fit it. 1) Purchase a new power loom (wires were cut too short on the last removal from the previous owner) and 2) I'm going to need the front RCA pre-outs replaced. For some reason.. because of the previous owner again... THIS happened

So, I'm waiting for Alpine Australia to change the RCA pre-outs over. It wouldn't have phased me if it were the rears, but because it's the fronts... it NEEDS to be a clean signal. It's too critical. Until then.. I'll continue the loudspeaker on my Samsung F480

Managed to measure up the boot so I know what MDF to start organising and I can distinguish a layout finally.

i had 8" JBLs in my old 9, being hater of metal cutting had to make parcel out of 1" mdf. but it worked and sounded great (no metal cutting

got to go to total recoil and repair them 8s and shove them back in

Ah yes.. total recoil in thornbury... Not cheap, but they know what they're on about. They've made custom speakers for my friends before.
Old JBL 8s, huh? Nice. Yeah, that's the awesome thing about the 929s.... MASSIVE parcel shelves!

all i need is the surround to be re-glued. the GTO series had the woven (not sure if they are actual carbon fibre) cones so they are fine, coils sounded good so just want to have the surround glued properly and by someone who has a clue

last time i spoke to TR they said (not to be quoted) $130 to tidy them up, which to me is a good price considering 8" speakers is a rarity nowadays and if they are available they are $400+

So true. 8" speakers aren't that common and if they are, you are paying through your teeth for them.
