Hey guys and girls :D

My name is Chris and im from newcastle nsw and i have just bought my first 929.

its a 1991 HC ( could be wrong being a n00b and all ) there is a few dings in it but other than that the car is in pretty good condition.

Its a 3l v6 sohc with an auto

the interior is imac with the only problem being around the gear selector the chrome is comming off :(

i would like to put some 18's on it and lower it , not so i cant drive it but so it sits on its new shoes nicely :D 15% tint and a 13b bridge ported with a HUGE turbo ive got some audio equipment to go in too ill be doing that on the weekend
Pionner 6050ub headunit jl audio kevlar 6.5" for the back 4x pioneer kevlar 4" for the doors and dash the rear speakers will be running on a cadence 800w 4ch amp and a Kicker CVR 12" running on a cadence 1000w rms monoblock.

The only thing i have to complain about is comming from being a holden vl commodore owner ( please dont hate me ) i have been known to enjoy loss of traction in a stopped position.....i like doing burnouts what male doesnt ha ha
and i cant seem to do it in the 929 is it just not powerfully enough ( yet ) or is it me lol

Thanks for reading guys and ill be posting some pics up prob later tonight if i can get my missus digital camera

I assume the VL was turbo or 5L?

If not, i dont see where the power difference would be assuming yours is the DOHC model?

Oh, and welcome.

Nah my 929 is sohc and my vl is was making bout the same power but was heaps lighter. 1290kgs vs 1460kgs ( reading off my rego papers ) but that wont matter when i 13bt it haha

and the vl would smoke up all day long but i cant seem to get that from the 929.. oh well the 929 is SO much nicer to drive as a daily

Yesterday i did a full service on her and a big clean and she came up a treat :) definatly not regreting my buy :D

welcome to our little corner :)

the reason for it is that the 9 had one of the best suspensions of its time. so grip is one of those things that this car will always try to provide. plus the V6 has much smoother torque line then I6.

having said that. my 2.0 V6 used to smoke the 17" BSA 205s (and these are heavy) wrapped in 215s

Oh right, that explains it. And as matsuda said, irs tends to squat instead of spin, mind hooks up extremely well and its only got a new set of 205's on it. How soon is the plan for the rotary?

Any pics of the car?

welcome to the site man.
when i bought my 929 all those years ago i also was a bit disappointed at first that it couldnt do burnouts, but you get over it. if you lowered it on coilovers with a pretty stiff spring rate you could probably get the wheels to smoke up, but then the 929 is just way too nice to be a burnout car.

dont worry too much about the chrome chipping off around the gear selector. almost all of em have it. i just painted mine black and it looks pretty good.
