yakuza mazda 929 HC
gidday guys.
this is my 1989 HC 929 series 2. ive owned it for about six years now and just slowly bought and fitted things here and there to it in the mean time. like most people i bought this to be a practical cruiser and keep it relatively stock, but i really was kidding myself. lol.
exterior mods:
-jap spec HCFS front bumper bar
-lowenhart ld-1 18X9 +45 wheels (30mm spacers rear & 10mm spacers front)
-Aurora 3 inch lowered springs.
-2.5" exhaust system with vip style rear muffler
- debadged & boot keyhole removed and filled.
-KDM front & rear Strut braces
-Ebay bonnet mascot
interior mods:
-Junction Produce fusa
-Alpine mp3 head unit
-Alpine V12 Mrd-m350 monoblock amp
-Alpine type R 12" sub
-Alpine type X 6.5" splits
-Alpine type S 6x9's
anyway i think thats about it. ive dont heaps more other things but they arent really as important or brag worthy.
my current plans are to address my wheel fitment as i think its still lacking a bit in achieving a half decent vip-style stance. im hoping to get a camber kit from the US to hopefully get rid of the very gay positive camber up front. if the camber is decent ill then switch the 30mm spacers that are on the rear and chuckl em up front and then get some 40mm ones to put on the back after a guard roll.
i'd also like to look into switching my suspension over to FC rx-7 coilovers to get the car just that little bit lower.

cheers for the comments fellas.
jay- i wouldnt say its a ghetto boot install but its nothing overly special really. just the sub in the boot in a custom ported box and the amp mounted in the cabin behind the rear seats.
matsuda- thanks man. yeh i love the gt look of the luce's too, but the calling of vip styling was far stronger. whenever im in melbourne or sydney i always grab the jap vip car mags from the japanese magazine stores and i just look at the pictures for hours. (since i cant read japanese lol)

Re: yakuza mazda 929 HC
Awesome looking nine. How much room to you have on the inside with the 9" rim on the rear? Clearance from rim to strut?
Im looking to get some steel rims made for the rear and not sure whether to go with a 8" or 9". Im thinking 8" would be more comfortable with a wide tyre?
I found this when trying on supra wheels. Perfect offset for our cars seems to be around the +20. (Early falcon).

Re: yakuza mazda 929 HC
had a bit of a setback at the moment. had one of my rear tyres blowout coz of the negative camber i run in the back (i think its about 4 degrees). then i was checking the tightness of my wheels on my bolt on spacers in the back and sorta overtightened them and snapped a couple of the studs. lol.
so now im driving on stockies all round right now with very sunken offsets. gayyyyy.
on a plus note tho i finally adressed the positive camber issue up front. i bought one of the new monroe "magic" camber bolt kits. it gives up to 3 degrees of adjustment which aint too bad. so now im just in the negative camber region in the front now by about 1 degree. its not much but it'll do for now.
ill post some pics up once i find my battery charger.

cheers mate. yeah theres a fair bit of room in the back between the strut and the wheels. you could pretty comfortably fit 10" wide wheels if you wanted to. its the front wheels that are the problem area coz the spring pan sits so close to the wheels.2jz929 wrote:Awesome looking nine.
