Hey guys,
A few q's about mods, from a potential owner of an 89 model,
1. Wheels, do late model mazda wheels fit? Do most off the shelf wheels fit? Spacers needed or is it more a style thing i.e yakuza?
2. Exhaust systems, full, half, hi flow cats, headers whats good what works well?
3. Lowering, what sort of springs/shocks, guard rolling needed or not?
4. Are general spares easily available from mazda, air fiters, leads, dizzy caps etc
Have looked about a bit on here but need some more in depth info cheers guys appreciate it.

Ive answered number one myself, late model mazda rims are +52.5mm offset so with the 929 having plus 40 i doubt they fit, someone will surely tell me.

1. i think with the wheels you probably need spacers, haven't really played with wheels on these so i cannot tell you for sure
2. standard rules apply with breathing, but everything needs to be custom, reason why not a lot of people looked into it
3. this will depend on a few things, do you have AAS(Automatically Adjusting Suspension)? if you do, this generally guaranties that you will need shocks. there are King Springs in Australia that does lowering springs. Also, depending how low you want it, you can go with FC Rx7 Coilovers, but wound up all the way makes the car sit 7cm or so off the ground. you could approach a few coilover makers to make you taller Rx7 units, i am going to go with HotBits (malaysian) bit expensive but to me they are worth it.
4. spares are getting harder to come by. General maintenance parts are plentiful aftermaket but mazda has a lot of NLAs (no longer available) specialty parts, although myself i usually look for custom anyway, some parts are not the best even from factory... sort of, if you can improve it - do it
also don't forget that for most of mechanical parts, MPV is the same, Diff center is the same as FC/FD Rx7, gearbox is Jatco (shared with Nissan mostly)

Cheers mate, thanks for the info, found alot of what you are saying by lurking around 929 sites lol, look im not after anything crazy not yakuza standard i.e vip style but just mainly nice rims, maybe a deep but quietish exhaust, bit lower ride height, and smallish stereo with sub, been and done a bit cars mainly fords, falcons, fairlanes, im into bikes more so now but no time to ride, the 929 will be family car (soon)/hobby for me.

they are good cars if you look after them, in reality not more expensive then any other (will have some amaizingly cheap parts, will have some stupid expensive parts).
they are reliable, mine giving me only issues associated with age more than anything else.
deep tone... i haven't done my exhaust, but my biggest fear is to make it sound like a commodore, although mine is turbo and should get deeper tone... you probably could get away with 2.5" with a couple of straight through mufflers in series.... "2jz929" with his toyo powered has a couple of truck mufflers in a row, nice and quiet but roars at WOT.
but yeah, i came down with idea, if i can avoid dealer parts i will

Ive been looking into wheels and offsets it seems that skyline offsets would work well on this car, there is talk of a sunken look with rims with a +40 offset, does anyone have any pics of hc's with just a neat set of wheels and mild lowering job?
