antena should go all the way down. there are aftermarket units out there but they are noisy and usually generic type

unless you want to pay through your nose for the genuine one

there is a company called Aeropro that does antennas(and other electrical junk) here in Oz.

as alternative, plug it up and go with window mount active antenna (mine has one factory the demister type)

i was thinking of getting one out of the yard.. But its not a biggie.. as long as it works, and goes up and down.. i cant really complain, after 17 years...lol

What would cause it to stop? it goes down to about half the size..maybe a little more. You think its something that i can repair?

pulling apart them things can get dangerous, because they usually have a few springs in them, but the system is simple:

there is a plastic 'toothy' flexible rod in your antenna mast, the motor is connected to a gear matched to the mast rod.

the motor (i guess) has a load sensing, and when it feels like there is no more to go its stops.

so my guess what has happened is:
1. your mast rod broke and now only grips one section (Usual) [does antenna go up down by hand more then 1cm? if it does this is could be the problem]
2. the system is dirty
3. there is a bend on mast itself that does not allow the motor to continue

i think it does go up and down a little by hand..(im gonna check)..but next time im at the yard.. im gonna experiment on one in the yard..instead of my own..

I already got to repair my rear window motor again
